How Will This Tariff Impact Exhibitors?
The recent tariffs on Chinese goods and an increasingly volatile American market have many of us wondering how our trade show budgets will be impacted by these changes. A recent CNBC article noted, “In response to the $200 Billion in Tariffs President Donald Trump has put into play with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China said it will retaliate against the latest round of tariffs, with the announcement that there will be a 25 percent charge on $16 billion worth of U.S. goods… ”
For those of you who have been exhibiting and working with exhibit houses for a substantial amount of time, you likely already know that many of the manufactured pop-up displays and modular systems are actually manufactured in China. With the new tariffs in place, imported products, as well as some non-imported printing materials, will be affected. That means, for most exhibit houses and some specialty banner print vendors, they will have to pass these new cost increases onto their customers.
